This story challenges misconceptions and illustrates how relationships are at the center of all humankind, regardless of one's sexual orientation.  And while the men and women in the story are all creations of Beckwith's imagination, most readers will find that one or more of the amazingly developed characters reminds them of someone they know, if not themselves.  It's a book that once you begin reading, you will have difficulty putting down until the very last page!
